For many NFL players, the final preseason weekend is more important than any other.

The biggest stars may see limited action, but players fighting for roster spots know that every snap could determine whether they make the team.

Coaches are evaluating backup quarterbacks, offensive linemen, receivers, defensive backs and special teams players. A strong performance can turn a player from a roster bubble candidate into a legitimate contributor.

This is also when younger players have perhaps their best opportunity to make an impression.

The NFL’s third preseason weekend is scheduled for August 27-29, meaning teams have very little time left before turning their attention toward opening day.

For fans, these games may not feature the same excitement as a regular-season matchup, but they can be fascinating because of what’s at stake.

For players on the bubble, this is their job interview.
